Police have introduced an investigation after a lady died in a flat fireplace in east London.

Six fireplace engines and round 30 firefighters replied to a fireplace on Homerton Top Side road, Hackney on Saturday morning.

A part of a ground-floor flat was once broken via the blaze. Crews discovered a lady within the assets, who was once pronounced lifeless on the scene.

London Hearth Brigade was once referred to as out to the incident at round 8.20am, and the hearth was once beneath keep watch over about 90 mins later. Firefighters from Homerton, Leyton, Stoke Newington and surrounding fireplace stations attended the hearth.

The incident is now beneath investigation via the London Hearth Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Carrier. The sufferer has but to be named.

A spokesperson for the London Hearth Brigade stated: “Unfortunately a lady has died following a flat fireplace in Hackney. Six fireplace engines and round 30 firefighters replied to a fireplace on Homerton Top Side road, in a development of 5 flooring.

“A part of a floor surface flat was once broken via the hearth. A girl was once discovered within the flat, and unfortunately pronounced lifeless on the scene.”
